For those of you who take a trip to Asia, once you’re here, it’s so cheap and quick to utilise the time and travel to other countries within Asia itself. There are so many amazing places to visit and experience cultures and countries that are so rich in history. Quick getaways while you’re staying in Singapore is very do-able, and very rewarding… Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand… all very easy, and relatively cheap. While I’ve been in Singapore, I’ve had the opportunity to check out just a couple of places close to here that have some of their own magic about the places – Melaka, Malaysia and Bintan, Indonesia. These trips came up last minute at times when I just needed a change of scenery, to de-stress and detach from the world a little and recharge the soul.

As I have certain requirements when it comes to my eating habits, to put it lightly :), when I travel, I tend to prepare food to bring along with me, just incase of travel time and the food situation at the other end less than caters for my needs.

For my trip to Bintan for the weekend, I quickly threw together some supercharged raw balls to make sure I had at the very least, something sustainable and nutrient dense over the weekend whilst enjoying a little slice of paradise, a short ferry ride away.

Here’s my super-ball throw together for when you have a last minute travel escape brought on you. All the ingredients are general items that would be in any wholefood kitchen..

Remember, if you can’t make it 100% Organic, use what you have but the more Organic, the better for you..

  • Lots of Oats
  • Dessicated Coconut/Shredded Coconut
  • Buckwheat kernels
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Pepitas
  • Goji Berries
  • Raisins
  • Spirulina Powder
  • Agave/Honey/Maple Syrup (or alternative Low GI Sweetener)
  • Vanilla bean
  • 1-2 tbsp melted Cacao Butter (for setting)
  • Siberian Ginseng Root (dry capsules, opened) – for calming & bringing a state of relaxed bliss
  • A little Lucuma Powder & Dessicated Coconut combined on plate for rolling completed balls in (alternatively use another superfood powder you have lying around)

Combine all except Cacao butter in a blended or food processor until a doughy consistency with a drizzle of water to help it along. Remove, and put into a bowl where you’ll mix in the cacao butter by hand. Next roll into balls of your desired size 🙂 , and roll in the Coconut-Lucuma mix. Set in fridge for 15mins- half an hour (if you can wait). Enjoy your getaway!
