As my followers will know the way I choose to eat is quite specific in terms of what’s classed as ‘normal’, but the people I’m surrounded by seem to be in-the-know and eat healthy too.
I often get asked what I take to jobs with me for food and I’ve mentioned it in previous posts, but thought I’d share with you what I took to my runway job today for Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo.
Expo food is most often basic sandwiches, wraps, overprocessed non-vegan sushi, fried foods etc etc…
On a job too, as models with hair & makeup changes backstage there’s not always much tine to run off for a length of time to find optimal food choices.
So to give your body some life from food, it’s best to bring it from home to save being caught out and hungry.
This is my model ‘lunch box’ today:
A few key tips:
♡ A variety of snacks/nibbly things – fruit, crackers, juice, for an easy nibble if there’s no time to eat while you’re hungry and don’t damage the makeup artist’s good work.
♡ Healthy treats for the sugar hit necessary sometimes while enduring challenging postures or cold conditions
♡ A salad, for something more substantial and nourishing
♡ Herbal Tea bags on hand for when you’re in freezing conditions to warm up. Herbal Teas are like liquid medicine.
♡ AND Water!! … essential, no brainer.
Whether it all gets eaten or not is irrelevant, but to have it on hand is the key to no added stress at work or time constraints.
Today’s homemade morsels:
1 x Green Smoothie (for an early call-time, breakfast on the go)
Early-Energy Coconut Green Machine
• 1 Young Coconut, water & flesh
• 1 Banana
• 1 Kiwi
• 4 Blackberries
• 1 Tbsp minced fresh Ginger
• Juice of 1 Lemon
• 1\2 bunch of Kale, deveined
• 1 Dsp each Spirulina & Maca
Blended until smooth, packed in a recycled glass jar. Avoid plastic where you can.
[ I drank this is transit to save time for sleeping (leaving at the latest possible tine) and to arrive ready to start hair & makeup ]
1 x Salad
• 1 Shredded Carrot
• 1 Shredded Beetroot
• 1/2 Apple, shredded
• 2 handfuls Rocket
• 1 handful Green Beans, chopped
• 1/3 cup Green Peas
• 1 small Avo, diced
• 10 Basil leaves, shredded
• 1 heaped Tbsp Org. Brown Rice Miso paste
• 2 Tbsp Lemon juice
• 2 Tbsp EVOO
• 1 tsp Onion Powder (instead of garlic, to avoid bad breath on the job)
• 1 dsp Coriander Powder
• 1 tsp Ginger Powder
• 5 drops Sesame Oil (Optional)
[Whisk dressing ingredients together]
Mix all together well. You can use a food processor for speedy shredding.
Hemp Seeds & Sprouts (or sesame seeds)
If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.
